Final Procedure

Finals Rules


Time
09:00-17:00 on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024

Registration
Time: 07:30-08:30
Procedure:
1. Verify the identifications.
2. Update presentation file before 08:50
3. Collect the documents: Badges, Finals Handbook (one for each team).

Briefing and Work Demonstration

1. The presentation order will be determined by serial number, please see the schedule.

2. International Contest
12 mins per team (6 mins for briefing + 6 mins for demonstration)
(1) The presentation is divided into four sessions of four to six teams, as listed in the table.
(2) Briefing are limited to 6 minutes. After the briefing of each session, the jury will move to the display area of the first session in order, and each demonstration is limited to 6 minutes.
(3) Bell prompt: (briefing and demonstration are the same)
 A. The first time: 5 minutes (ring once).
 B. The second time: 6 minutes (ring long twice). End of briefing or demonstration.
(4) At the end of each session of the team’s demonstration, the next session of the team’s briefing will take place.
(5) Traveling time from stage to display area is excluded.

3. Main Contest
13 mins per team (8 mins for briefing + 5 mins for demonstration)
(1) Briefing and demonstration will be held in the display area. Teams are required to bring their own Laptop and provide 8 copies of paper presentation, each team will have 8 minutes for briefing and demonstration, and 5 minutes for Q&A.
(2) Bell prompt: (briefing and demonstration are the same)
 A. Briefing and demonstration: ring once at 7 minutes for first prompt, and ring twice as second prompt at 8 minutes to end briefing.
 B. Q&A: ring once at 12 minutes for first prompt, and ring twice as second prompt at 13 minutes to end Q&A.
(3) According to the rules of the contest, the advisor may make a speech or additions (but the juries will try to assign students to answer the questions).
(4) Advisor of teams that have won an award in the previous year will needs to emphasize the technical innovation and differences of their work.

4. The emcee will preside and control the time in accordance with the rules of the contest, and the jury members will carry out the judging work in accordance with the ringing of the bell and the emcee’ curtain call.

5. The time will start as soon as the presenter declares the team number and the name of the entry.

6. Briefing and demonstration are open for public.

7. Presenting language: English in International Contest; Mandarin in Main Contest.

8. Work Setup and Display
(1) Setup Time: 15:00-17:00, Monday 20 August. 07:30-09:00, Tuesday 21 August.
(2) Display Area:
 A. Display area 250cm (w) × 200cm (d) × 250cm (h)
 B. Table 200cm (w)× 50cm(d)× 75cm (h) (※bearing capacity 20kg limited)
 C. Work display poster 230cm (w) × 150cm (h) (Content is provided by each team following the event rules. The layout of the posters is unified by the event organizer.)
 D. Display only permits at regulated area.

Matters of Attention
1. All participants of the contest should wear participation IDs and dress in their school or team uniform.
2. Please bring student ID for identification.
3. Please use equipment provided by the organizer carefully. Teams shall be liable for all loss or damage.
4. Please keep voices down during the competition, any verbal or behavioral obstruction during the competition is strictly prohibited.
5. Drinking water is provided. Please prepare your own thermos.
6. Drink, smoking and chewing gum or betel nuts are prohibited in the venue.
7. Display board and cabinet will be provided by the organizer in the work display area (only for the purpose of work display).
8. Dismantling starts after the ceremony. Display posters should be disposed of by the teams (please return the aluminum pole to the organizer).
9. Other indiscretions if any are entitled to announcements on site.


Award Mechanism




Notes
1. To uphold the contest’s standards, the organizers reserve the right to withhold awards if deemed necessary.
2. In accordance with Article 14, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 8 of the Republic of China Income Tax Act, awards or grants from competitions are classified under “competition, contest, and winning opportunities” income and are subject to a tax deduction of 10% for nationals and 20% for non-nationals.
3. The organizers will issue the official badges of participation to teams advancing to the Final Round. Non-compliance with the mandatory display of participant badges or adherence to the prescribed dress code, despite reminders, may lead to disqualification.
